ABOUT MERTSAV
A DEFENSE HERITAGE TURNED INTO INNOVATION
Mertsav’s story is closely tied to Turkey’s defense-manufacturing industry.
Founded in 2006, the company built its manufacturing experience through firearm projects and work within Turkey’s defense sector before expanding into its own product development. That background is important when looking at the company’s MSG series: these are not simply recreational firearms carrying a new brand name, but products developed by a manufacturer with an established engineering and production background.
DIVO offers two selected Mertsav models in the Philippines: the MSG9PM and MSG9A.
MSG9A
The MSG9A: A Different Kind of 9mm Platform
The MSG9A stands apart from many modern 9mm platforms through its operating system.
Mertsav specifies a roller-delayed blowback operating system for the MSG9A. The design also incorporates a folding stock and a 225 mm barrel, giving the platform a distinctive combination of compactness and longer-barrel proportions.
This makes the MSG9A particularly interesting to customers who appreciate mechanical design and alternative operating systems, rather than simply choosing a firearm based on appearance.
The roller-delayed system gives the MSG9A a fundamentally different mechanical character from the simple-blowback system used by many conventional 9mm platforms.
That distinction is one of the reasons the MSG9A appeals to enthusiasts who enjoy firearms with a more specialized engineering heritage.
MSG9PM
The MSG9PM
The MSG9PM sits alongside the MSG9A within Mertsav’s MSG family.
Rather than viewing the two models simply as variations of the same firearm, customers can look at the MSG series as Mertsav’s interpretation of the compact 9mm platform — combining the company’s defense-industry manufacturing background with a design intended around mobility and controllability.
The MSG9PM is therefore likely to appeal to customers looking for a distinctive 9mm platform with a more traditional submachine-gun-inspired design language, rather than the ubiquitous polymer-frame pistol format.
For customers interested in the engineering and history behind different firearm operating systems, the MSG series offers something considerably different from mainstream handgun designs. Last but not the least, the MSG series is a clone of the very iconic H&K MP5 lineup.
Mertsav’s Manufacturing DNA
One of the more interesting aspects of Mertsav is that its history is not limited to developing consumer-facing firearms.
The company describes a background involving numerous firearm projects and work as a subcontractor within Turkey’s defense industry. It has subsequently expanded into its own product development and manufacturing capabilities.
That distinction helps explain the character of Mertsav’s product portfolio.
The company approaches firearm manufacturing from an engineering and defense-industry perspective, with products spanning infantry rifles, machine guns, sniper systems, pistols and other platforms.
The MSG9PM and MSG9A represent the 9mm side of that broader engineering portfolio.
Who Is Drawn to the MSG Series?
The Mertsav MSG models are particularly interesting for customers who look beyond conventional striker-fired pistols and standard AR-pattern platforms.
They tend to attract firearm enthusiasts who appreciate:
- Alternative operating systems
- Mechanical engineering and firearm history
- Compact 9mm platforms
- Distinctive designs
- Turkish defense-industry manufacturing
- Can be fitted with original H&K MP5 mags and other minor parts
For these customers, the appeal of the MSG series is not simply the caliber. It is the engineering philosophy behind the platform.
